A Brief History of The Limitations

The story of The Limitations began approximately 13.7 billion years ago, when the known universe emerged from an infinitely dense gravitational singularity during what is commonly known as the Big Bang. After the Earth had cooled sufficiently and the dinosaurs had turned into oil, The Limitations arose like a phoenix from the ashes of three long-dormant Holy Cross college bands known as TRM, The Limit, and The Armadillos.

Originally conceived in the spring of 2004 by the charismatic lead singer and graphic designer Jonny Wells (TRM), the band rapidly expanded to include the multitalented guitarist, keyboardist, and research cardiologist Jim Januzzi, MD, FACC (The Limit--Mark I), the savagely handsome guitarist and medical editor Al Harper (The Limit--Mark I and II), the incomparably solid bassist, backup singer, and attorney Tom McNulty, Esq. (the Armadillos), and the rabidly manic drummer and publishing magnate Mad Dog Keaveny (The Limit--Mark II). Most recently, the band successfully recruited the Berklee-trained keyboardist extraordinaire John Turner (The Armadillos).

In April 2005, The Limitations entered the studio with the mighty Drew Townson to record a four-song demo, which quickly led to numerous sold-out performances at various Boston-area venues, ranging from the legendary Paradise Lounge to the slightly more obscure Concord Rod and Gun Club. Although The Limitations were originally conceived strictly as a 1980s cover band, the set list gradually expanded to reflect the eclectic tastes of the band members and now includes songs by artists such as REM, The Church, INXS, David Bowie, The Who, The Psychedelic Furs, U2, Oasis, Big Country, The Stone Roses, The Ramones, The Smithereens, The Cure, The English Beat, The Cars, Neil Young, Lou Reed, The Wallflowers, Echo and The Bunnymen, the Violent Femmes, The Fixx, Social Distorition, Mathew Sweet, and The Clash, among others.
